Lakes Entrance to Bermagui

Hello!! I hope your first week back at school has gone well (for the Tarremahtians) and that you are all keeping warm down in the cold depths of Tassie (excluding a select few lucky enough to live somewhere a bit warmer).

Lakes Entrance was our first stop after Eagle Point which, as the name suggests is where the Gippsland Lakes meet up with the ocean. The main priority while there was, of course, to do the walk and visit the very point of the Entrance where you can watch the goings-on of marine life and boat traffic.

We then travelled to Cann River where we got to experience our very first free campground. Apart from a few interesting characters staying there, it actually wasn't vastly different from the paid sites. We got to light our first fire here where we managed to cook food on it for the two days we stayed there. On our first night, we roasted apples on the fire (much to my dad's concern) with the full credit for this going to my gardening teacher Sophy. On the second day after a quick wander through the township and a stop for lunch, we headed back to camp and roasted some jacket potatoes on the fire for dinner that night.

Our next drive was very exciting as our next stop, Eden, was across the border to New South Wales. The site we got at our campground there was super cool as it was right on the edge of a lake and just across the road from a dog-friendly beach. I also discovered my first ocean pool which is a human-made rock-pool that's big enough to swim in. We put Pedro's rock-hopping skills to use for the first time on the trip (but certainly not the last) at a beach just out of Eden.

Our last stop was at Bermagui which was a beautiful beach town where our campsite overlooked the water. Our main timewaster here was rockhopping around and exploring different beaches. Thankfully Pedro is a very adventurous doggo so we didn't have to worry about doing anything extra to accommodate our four-legged traveller. We looked at our second ocean pool of the trip (although didn't swim in this one given the weather) and then discovered a bob of seals (the actual collective noun for a group of seals) lazing in the swell just of some rocks. Our last day in Bermagui was spent at a beach a little way out of town where Pedro and I yet again ventured around some particularly spikey rocks to discover a secluded and mostly untouched beach.

We ended up deciding to leave Bermagui a day early given the weather and headed to Batemans Bay which is where we are currently. The drive up was interesting, we stopped in Tilba Tilba after a recommendation from a friend and then also stopped in Bodalla where I ate lunch at a dairy farm and Pedro got some pats from the lovely workers.

Feel free to let me know what format works best for reading as I'm still experimenting on how to lay this all out and am keen for any ideas!
Enjoy normal life of school and work 😋
